The game

Robots collect POLLEN and NECTAR and move them to their GARDEN, place them into the FLOWERS, and LAUNCH them into their CELLS to cause a HIVE TIP. Each HIVE TIP releases one of five NECTAR staged in the ALLIANCE AREA; with 60 seconds left, all remaining NECTAR may enter. Robots finish by claiming FLOWERS with NECTAR and returning to their LOADING ZONE.

In plain words

What are you trying to do?
Get yellow balls (POLLEN) and your colour balls (NECTAR) into things that score: the two bins in the middle, the four towers on the walls, or just your own corner of the floor.
What is the HIVE?
The seesaw in the centre. It holds two bins, one facing up. Shoot enough balls into the bin facing up and the whole thing flips over — that flip is worth 20 points, and it is the biggest single score in the game.
What is a FLOWER?
A tower on the wall. Drop balls in the top; you can take POLLEN back out of the bottom. Put your NECTAR in one and it counts as yours, which makes everything in it worth more.
What is the GARDEN?
Your own area of the floor. Balls left there are worth a point each — the cheapest score, but it always counts.
Where does NECTAR come from?
Five sit in your ALLIANCE AREA at the start. You get one more each time you flip a HIVE. With a minute left, you can bring in all the rest.
How does a match end?
Claim the towers with NECTAR and drive back to your LOADING ZONE. Parking there is 5 points.

HIVE

What it is

In the centre of the field. One frame holds a red HIVE and a blue HIVE, each made of two CELLS, one at either end. Each HIVE sits on a pivot and is bi-stable: it holds its position until enough POLLEN or NECTAR are launched into the upward-facing CELL. The underside of each CELL carries a cluster of four distinct AprilTags.

How teams use it

Launch into the upward-facing CELL. That is the only way a TIP counts — a robot may not disrupt or cause a TIP any other way.

What it scores

  • HIVE TIP — 20 points, in both AUTO and TELEOP
  • POLLEN or NECTAR left in a CELL at the end — 2 points each
